As an Arbroath and Dundee wedding and portrait photographer, It’s so important to continually challenge what I already know; as well as develop new skills and push my own capabilities both creatively and technically. As well as learning new lighting techniques all these additional skills help me grow as a photographer but also offer my clients the highest quality service with bespoke imagery.
I recently spent the day with the talented Faye and Trevor Yerbury from Edinburgh. Inspired by their stylish fine art portraiture photography, I felt they would be a good choice to work with as I enter a new journey with my own style of portrait photography, with the intention of introducing this style of photography to my clients.
We had a fantastic day exploring the City of Edinburgh, creating fashion inspired portraits with historic and modern architecture backdrops. We captured images of the gorgeous model Riona Neve from Belgium, using only natural ambient light. I learnt so much from Faye and Trevor’s methods on composition, posing a model and how light and contrast add so much to portraiture.
For a professional photographer to attend a workshop it’s a great way to practice, learn and share skills with other photographers within the industry.
Here are some of the images which were captured around the city.
